Other Services
Greene County Children Services offers a couple more services that would be benefical to the child and to family as well:
GCCS also has the Western Ohio Regional Training Center. The WORTC is responsible for the budgeting, scheduling, registration, and administration of child welfare-related training within a 13 county region. The WORTC is a part of Greene County CSB and serves Allen, Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Hardin, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby Counties. We produce quarterly training calendars for both the Child Welfare Staff and Foster Parents in our region. We maintain close partnerships with each of our counties to assess and respond to the unique training needs of their catchment areas. Through monthly Ohio Child Welfare Training Program (OCWTP) State Steering Committee meetings and numerous work team meetings, we provide guidance to statewide planning initiatives, and help develop policies and procedures for the delivery of training.
- Family Team Meeting A family team meeting is a gathering of family members, friends, support people, agency staff, and an impartial moderator who join together to plan for the care and protection of a child. Meetings take place when a child’s safety is at risk. At a meeting, the people who know the child best—the family, extended family and community—work in partnership with the agency to find a solution to ensure the child is well cared for and safe.
- Kinship Care Kinship care is an alternate living arrangement for a child who cannot remain at home. The child may live with a relative through blood or marriage or with an unrelated person who has a close, supportive relationship with the child (kin).
