Foster families provide full-time temporary care for children who are not able to live safely with their primary family. Greene County Children Services helps arrange foster care in homes with fully screened, qualified families.

Qualifications
Foster caregivers must be at least 18 years of age. Other qualifications include:
- Completion of a foster care application
- 36 hours of pre-service training provided by Greene County Children Services
- Participation in a home study, a physical exam and a criminal background check
- Sufficient income to meet the financial needs of their family
Financial help
Foster parents are paid a board rate to assist with the cost of food, shelter, clothing and other items. Medical costs for foster children are usually covered through Ohio Medicaid programs.Training
