Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program exists to develop viable urban communities in Greene County while expanding economic opportunities for persons of low- and moderate-income via the Ohio Department of Development. The Community Development Program provides communities with a flexible housing and community development resource that can be used to address locally identified needs that are eligible for Community Development Block Grant activities and qualify under the national objective of Low- and Moderate-Income (LMI) Benefit or Elimination of Slum and Blight. The program includes competitive set-aside funding for Neighborhood Revitalization, Downtown Revitalization, and Critical Infrastructure.
Activities can be found through two types of grant programs: Allocation & Competitive
- Address the needs of low to moderate-income persons or special populations
- Aid in the elimination of slum and blight
- Create and retain permanent jobs
- Further Fair Housing compliance
- Provide for the construction, reconstruction, or improvement of public facilities
- Revitalize the Central Business Districts of local communities
- Biennially, the County receives funds based on a “formula” used to determine its allocation, which takes into account population, per capita income, and the local unemployment rate. Greene County welcomes non-profits and communities to submit applications for projects during the new funding year.
- The program includes competitive set-aside funding for Neighborhood Revitalization, Downtown Revitalization, and Critical Infrastructure. Neighborhood Revitalization and Critical Infrastructure projects are designed to serve primarily residential populations. Funds cannot be used to support public improvements for future or speculative developments. (Learn more)
