Parent Support Classes

Welcome to Greene County Family and Children First Parenting Support Programs!

We offer a variety of parenting classes to fit your family's needs. Currently, we are offering "Active Parenting", followed by a monthly Parent Support Group for those who have completed their "Active Parenting" classes.  

"Active Parenting for children ages 0-5 years old" are 4-week parenting classes, offered in-person and via ZOOM, that focus on building a strong foundation between you and your child. It also offers practical techniques on how to encourage positive behavior, addresses choices and consequences, along with special information for preparing your child to begin school. Each session contains plenty of video reinforcement in order to bring key points to life, along with practical engagement workshops.  The cost of these classes is $18.00 so as to cover the materials parents/guardians will use. "Active Parenting for children ages 5-12 years old" are 6-week parenting classes, offered in-person and via Zoom, that cover basic parenting fundamental skills. It has been designed to help parents/guardians raise happy, well-adjusted, and successful children. The cost of these classes is $25.00 in order to cover the materials parents/guardians will use. "Active Parenting for Teenagers ages 13-18 years old" are 6-week ZOOM classes specifically created to help parents/guardians learn effective communication skills and how to understand a teen's goals, which is key to avoiding power struggles.  They also give you the tools to help your teen behave in a responsible way, and how to reduce the risks of teen years including alcohol, drugs, sexuality and violence.  The cost of these classes is $18.00 so as to cover the materials parents/guardians will use. Parenting Support Group are 1-hour monthly Zoom sessions organized for parents and/or guardians who have completed the Active Parenting Classes.  These sessions will be divided into two age brackets: one for parents with children ages 0-12, and the other for those having 12- to 18-year-old teenagers.  This Support Group is designed for parents who may need support, where they can share ideas, and also receive or offer encouragement, along with share their success stories.
