Road Construction Update

Upper Bellbrook Road Remains Closed for Gas Line Replacement and Road Repair

The Greene County Engineer’s Office announces that CenterPoint Energy is replacing the gas line under Upper Bellbrook Road between Van Eaton Road and Valley Road.

Unfortunately, crews have run into unusual site conditions that have required much more work than planned. They have worked around the clock to remove the foot of asphalt and old backfill (CDF) material, replace the old pipeline with a new pipeline and backfill the trench with sand and flowable fill (CDF).

However, due to the temperatures and humidity, the backfill material has not set/cured enough to place the asphalt pavement over the backfill material as planned.

Therefore, due to site conditions and paving contractor availability, the closure is now expected to last thru Wednesday, June 22, weather and equipment permitting.

The road is closed to traffic and a detour is in place by the Center Point's contractor. The eastern detour is Van Eaton Road to Lower Bellbrook Road to SR 35W. The western detour is Progress Dr. to Business 35W to SR 35E to Lower Bell to Van Eaton Road.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during the construction by CenterPoint and apologize for any inconvenience.

Vectren is replacing 5,864 feet of an existing 20-inch pipeline in six sections.
