Meet the Prosecutor

David D. Hayes was elected to the position of Greene County Prosecuting Attorney in November of 2020 and assumed the position on January 4, 2021.  David began his career at the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney on November 1, 2004 in the Child Support Enforcement Division.  David became a felony docket prosecutor in September of 2005.  Since that time, David has prosecuted over 2,500 felony cases and conducted over 60 jury trials.  These trials have included murder, rape, burglary and felonious assault cases.  

David graduated from W.E. Stebbins High School in Riverside, Ohio in May of 1992.  David joined the United States Air Force Reserve immediately after high school.  David served as a Recruiter for the Air Force Reserve at the Youngstown Air Reserve Base located in Vienna, Ohio.  In 1996, David left the Recruiting Service to pursue his education.  David attended Sinclair Community College and earned an Associate of Arts degree in May of 2001.  David also attended Wright State University graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in May of 2001.  David then went to the University of Dayton School of Law where he graduated Cum Laude with a Juris Doctorate degree in May of 2004.  David passed the Ohio bar exam in October of 2004.  

In 2016, David retired after a 24-year career in the United States Air Force Reserve.  David retired in the rank of Captain while serving in the Judge Advocate Corps.  David spent most of his career as an enlisted airman with the 445th Airlift Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.  David rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and served as the First Sergeant for both the 445th Logistics Readiness Squadron and the 445th Maintenance Squadron.   

David has been married to his wife Amanda for 22 years.  They have two daughters, Miranda and Marissa.  They have lived in Greene County since they were married.  They bought their first home in Fairborn and then later moved to their current residence in the city of Beavercreek, where they have lived since 2009.
