We are pleased to announce that the Greene County Board of Commissioners, through the Department of Development, is distributing a total of $500,000 this month of December to all Political Subdivisions of Greene County.
While state funding for the Greene County communities has been essentially cut in half over the past eight years, our County Commissioners had the fiscal foresight to note this trend and provision accordingly and that has resulted in a healthy financial position. Section 307 of the Ohio Revised Code allows the County Commissioners to create a Grant fund and authorize the Department of Development for the disbursement of these grants. A resolution was passed on October 18, 2018 for a total of $500,000 to be divided amongst the Cities, Townships and Villages.
The grant funds can be spent for the purpose of economic development, including permanent public improvements. The only request in regards to spending the funds from the Commissioners is to have each entity to provide a simple report on how the grant was spent by October 31, of 2019.
