Greene County Auditor David Graham was honored by the County Auditor’s Association of Ohio as the 2021 recipient of the Richard J. Makowski Award for the Outstanding County Auditor of the Year. The award was presented by Athens County Auditor Jill Thompson at their annual conference on November 18, 2021. The award was started in 1996 to honor the late Richard J. Makowski, county auditor of Geauga County. Auditor Makowski exemplified what it took to be an “exceptional” county auditor and was a hard worker who excelled at bringing others together to get things done. Mr. Graham is the 26th recipient of the prestigious award.
"It was an honor to receive this award from the County Auditor's Association of Ohio," said Graham who was nominated for the individual award by his peers. "I hold them in high regard. They are some of the brightest people I've ever worked with."
Mr. Graham was first elected as county auditor in 2010 and has been active in the CAAO since becoming auditor and has served as President of the Southwest District of the CAAO and has been an active member of the CAAO legislative committee.
He is a lifelong resident of Xenia where he resides with his wife Lisa, with whom he has four children.
